Blogs: The No. 1 Search Marketing Tool

According to DMNews, 85% of clicks on a search results page are on organic (not-paid) results, representing one of the largest and untapped opportunities for advancing search marketing campaigns.

According to the article’s research blogs offer the highest rates of conversion. The key to keeping high volumes of traffic inbound to your site, it says, is consistency. Search expert Vanessa Fox offered her own insights: “Relevance means keeping to a topic, helping the search engine understand what your site is about and, ideally, about one thing in particular.”

Blogs that focus in on and write volumes of high quality focused material will receive the most attention from search engines and searchers, leading to a massive field of opportunity to grow sales.

Microsoft Working Together with BAT

In the last past months, there have been different rumors of Microsoft trying to seal a deal with Yahoo, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

This past Monday, May 4th, however, the Washington Post has released the news that Microsoft is looking to boost its online advertising campaign by bringing Brand Affinity Technologies to work together on a new approach.

BAT has a tap of 2,000 celebrities and athletes and they let advertisers pay to use a celebrity’s image on their campaign, regardless of being a small or big business. Apparently, Microsoft wants to make it easier for advertisers on its properties to have access to those 2,000 celebrities and athletes that BAT owns rights to at the moment.

There aren’t “details of how Microsoft’s relationship with Brand Affinity Technologies will work, but this is likely a win-win for both companies”, the Washington Post stated.

The study reveals that big industrial companies are willing to invest this more money in online advertising this year rather than committing marketing dollars solely to their traditional campaigns. Research confirmed that at least 48% of industrial marketers plan to increase their online marketing budget in 2009.

Of those increasing budgets this year, 65% are shifting marketing dollars from traditional venues to online.
