Online Newspaper Ad Revenue Goes Down

The online newspaper industry announced a decrease in ads in this first quarter. In comparison to 2008’s first quarter the revenue went down from $804 million to $696.3 million.

The online ad dollar’s drastic slip has managers from this industry thinking about implementing the subscription system.Online ad revenue has been decreasing for these publishers for the past year.

Microsoft Launches Bing

Microsoft is launching Bing, a search engine that some experts in the field consider to be a big “change” for the internet search industry.

According to recent studies, 30% of searches are not satisfied with existing search engines such as Google. Experts believe that Bing, which will replace Microsoft Live, will show better results and content that are more useful for searchers.

Microsoft’s primary goal is to have Bing as the number one search engine in within the next 5 years. Nowadays, most advertisers buy search ads exclusively with Google and Yahoo.

An analyst with technology and market research company Forrester, Shar VanBoskirk, has commented that:”Microsoft has a measly share of searches; not enough reach to make buying search ads with it worth the trouble.”

Experts are anxiously awaiting Microsoft Bing’s launch this week to finally test this new search engine.
