Microsoft Warns Users About Scam Ads
Microsoft is educating consumers to avoid clicking on scam ads. Microsoft in conjunction with the Federal Trade Commission, The United States Postal Inspection Service and Western Union has launched a series of online public service announcements on its Bing search engine.
If you search for Microsoft Lottery, you will get a link to “Advance Fee Fraud Scams” follow with a message that says “Don’t send money before verifying the source of the request.”
Tim Cranton, Microsoft Associate General Counsel said:”The campaign builds on similar information we recently began providing in Windows Live, all with the idea that by providing education within the product experience, consumers will be reminded to be cautious at the very moment it’s most important.”
Microsoft has also released a free antivirus software, Microsoft Security Essentials, to increase security baseline of Windows system. Hopefully, this new strategy presented by Microsoft will prevent users from clicking on scam ads and browse websites safely.
