Online Ad Spending in Europe
Western Europe is relative new in the online advertising world, however, 2009 seems to be a promising year for this region. The two countries that are relative mature in this market are Germany and France, while Spain and Italy have been slowly getting into the market.
Nicolas Bmbourg, in his report from Reportlinker, he commented:” Throughout Western Europe, total advertising spending has plunged with the financial downturn. But the Internet has withstood recessionary pressures far better than other media. Online ad spending will post important gains in 2009 and regain significant momentum in 2010.”
He also said that paid search is the most popular format in the online industry in Western Europe. Users prefer this type of ads instead of the classified ads or viral email campaigns.
